2011 All In For A Cure: Raising the Ante

In February of 2011, more than 125 poker players and 450 party guests showed up to celebrate Brady’s life. In its fourth year this event raised more than $125,000 for the University of Kansas Cancer Center, bringing the four-year total donation to over $450,000. This could not have been done without the support and partnership of our sponsors and supporters.

In September, money was transferred from the Brady Stanton Memorial Fund to the University of Kansas Cancer Center for the following key purposes:

  • $100,000 to the Brady Stanton Pancreatic Cancer Fund for continued research directed by Aravind Sugumar, M.D., M.P.H as part of the creation of The High Risk for Pancreatic Cancer Screening and Treatment Program at The University of Kansas Cancer Center.
  • $20,000 to the Brady Stanton Pancreatic Cancer Fund for the pancreatic tissue and serum bank.

These funding priorities are consistent with our desire to create and build an outstanding program focusing on the full spectrum of research and care for those suffering from pancreatic cancer.

Recently, members of the the Event Committee and Memorial Fund Board had the privilege of visiting the University of Kansas Cancer Center and seeing first hand the impact that our efforts are having on pancreatic cancer research in our community. However, there is still much to be done.

The money raised from this years event will continue to support the specific actions above as well as to assist the University of Kansas Cancer Center in its pursuit of the National Cancer Institute’s designation to make it one of the premier oncology institutions in the country. Equally important, the funding directly supports efforts to find a cure for pancreatic cancer. Our dream is that a cure for this deadly disease will be discovered right here in Brady’s hometown, by his alma mater, with help from his friends and supporters of “All In For A Cure.”

The Date for the Fifth Annual Brady Stanton Memorial Texas Hold'em Tournament and Bash is set.
